Confessions of a Martial Arts Enthusiast ![]() I must say, as I mentioned, I'm an avid martial arts enthusiast. I suppose many people think that martial arts symbolises violence. But in fact, they're terribly wrong. Of course, learning martial arts teaches you self-defence, and yes, let you uphold a sense of pride and dignity and 'invincibility'. However, don't get the misconception, learning martial arts does not allow one to show off and brag about what he can do! Well, what sparked my interest in martial arts? I believed I have talked about this in my previous posts so just let me repeat it again. The first reason would be that the males in my family are simply, fans of martial arts(especially my second brother). We would borrow books teaching us various martial arts techniques or insights on various martial arts like Brazilian jiu-jitsu, jeet kun-do and others. Documentaries that are anything on martial arts were one of my top favourite television programmes. Those I definitely would not miss, unless I had to. I would put down anything I was doing(including homework assignments), sink on the couch and get totally fascinated by the documentary. This, unfortunately, resulted in having to burn the midnight oil at times. ): One reason would be that my brothers are in judo. Soon enough, I was influenced by them and as I have already stated a few times over, turned into a martial arts enthusiast. Now, following their footsteps, I have took up Judo as my CCA and I happen to be performing pretty well at it! Comment | 5 Comments |
